Running
Horses Party - 1st May 2003
The legend so far Location: A pub in a Liverpool suburb. Outside the pub a sign creaks in the wind .it reads The Running Horses. Date:
Tuesday 7th October 1977 Time:
Opening Time Cast: Andy Jackson and Rob Gough The
scene: 2 idealistic middle class business students sipping Tetley's
Bitter decide to build their own perfect pub bar that would change the
world forever. It would take seven years and a move to a different continent to see that beer fuelled dream become a reality. The 1st Running Horses party was held in a single storey villa just off Kuwaiti Hospital roundabout in 1984. The party was held to celebrate the completion of the building of the bar that would change the world and the naming of the bar as the Running Horses Bar. Built out of 100% tree wood and with sharp nails the bar seemed to take on a life of it's own and most people who attended the 1st party agreed that it was quite a convenient place to have a drink. Being made of natural treewood it was also designed to float should there be a sudden need for a floating bar as indeed there was during the Great Sharjah Flood of '88. The
2nd party was held a year later in 1985 in the same villa and included
the opening of an extension to the bar known as 'the Snug' where people
could enjoy a relaxed drink in cosy surroundings and the opening of a
beer garden named 'the Paddock'. It is a little difficult to put a firm
figure on how many people attended that 2nd party but satellite images
and empty beer cans and vodka bottles confirmed that in excess of 11 million
popstars jiitterbugged and booogiwooogied the night away. On the morning after the 3rd party it became apparent that The Running Horses popstars parties could change the world for the better and that a pattern was emerging and it was decided to hold a 4th party in 9 years time. A date was quickly agreed and 1st of May 2003 was booked. It was also decided that for the first time in The Running Horses Popstars Party history there would be no charge for car parking. We hope this 20 year potted history makes things a little clearer to our friends who have not been to the previous Running Horses popstars parties and we look forward to welcoming you all and celebrating 'a bar that shook the world' For those of you who are unable to attend this Thusday then the 5th in a lifetime series of Running Horses parties will be on 4th April 2012. Car parking fees to be announced nearer to the day. Love
and Peas,
